After teaching in Pennsylvania for seven years and completing the requirements for earning our Masters’ Degrees, we arrived at Rift Valley Academy in July of 1997 as a family of three for a three-year assignment. Those three years quickly stretched to four; and as a family of five, we returned to the US in 2001 for a year of home assignment. Recognizing our love for teaching and mentoring MKs, we returned home to Kenya. Throughout the years as our own children have grown, we have served in a variety of roles including teachers, dorm parents, and class sponsors. Most recently, Brian has taught two classes of AP Calculus and served as the math department chair. He has also been the coordinator for curriculum development, school accreditation, and RVA’s interim program. Missy has served in the role of Admissions Director guiding families through the application process and helping them prepare for their child’s transition to RVA. Together, we have been staff sponsors for the classes of 2013 and 2019.
After a one-year home assignment for the 2019-2020 school year, we have returned to RVA and returned to some roles that we held in our early years at RVA. We will be dorom parents for 5th and 6th grade boys. Missy will be teaching math and science in 2nd grade. Brian will continue teaching the AP Calculus classes.
