Support Update

Dear Friends,

This past week, the pastor’s message of the church we visited was about the body of Christ; more specifically, the important role that each part of the body has in the life of the church. Throughout this year, we have had the privilege of sharing about the ministry of Rift Valley Academy (RVA) with many different churches and individuals. The new RVA video we have been showing focuses on several missionary families throughout Africa who depend on RVA to care for their children’s education while they are working where God has called them. As we have shared the stories of some of these people, eyes have been opened to see more clearly the role of RVA in missions. They have seen anew the role of RVA in the body of Christ and the building of His church throughout Africa.

As we reflected on the pastor’s message, it also reminded us of the many parts of the body that allow US to serve at RVA. There are almost 250 individuals, families and churches that directly receive our email updates. There are many more who receive these updates second hand or who check out the updates on our website. It has been humbling and honoring to connect with some very faithful prayer warriors who clearly know what is happening in our lives and are uplifting us in prayer regularly. Some of these people, who we are meeting for the first time, seem like old friends. Those who pray regularly for us and for the ministry of RVA are a critical part of our support team.

We are also exceedingly grateful for the 24 churches and 44 individuals or families that currently make up our monthly financial support team. In the last four months, these people, churches and others have helped to completely eliminate the $5,000 support shortage that we had at the beginning of our home assignment (July 2009). They have also increased their monthly pledges by over $250 per month. God continues to be faithful in supplying our needs through these people. Those who contribute regularly to our financial support are a critical part of our support team.

We are very thankful that the extra support has come in before Africa Inland Mission (AIM) implements a new policy in March that will increase our support needs while on home assignment. Normally, we would have until the end of home assignment for our support to get back to 100%. However, a recent policy change within AIM means that we will need to have our full support by March. This policy change also resulted in a small increase in our support target. Thus, at this point, we are $550 per month short of our support target with AIM. Most recently, we have been blessed by two dear friends who have committed to helping cover our shortage for the next few months, almost half of the needed amount. In seeing how God is already at work in helping to reduce that shortage, we are confident that HE will continue to meet all our needs.

If you are interested in joining our support team, information on how to do so is provided below. As part of the RVA body, we would love to have you partner with us; thereby enabling others to be part of the greater mission of reaching Africa for Christ. We cannot do this alone. As you can see, our presence at Rift Valley Academy is literally the result of hundreds of God’s people coming together for the common purpose of reaching the world for Christ.

Joyfully Serving Him,

Brian, Missy, Rachel, Hannah and Micah
