Rift Valley Academy is located in Kenya, East Africa. The school overlooks the Great Rift Valley, located on an escarpment at about 7500 feet altitude. To learn more about RVA, please visit the RVA website or follow daily life at RVA on Facebook or Instagram.
The town of Kijabe is located about 45 minutes northwest of Nairobi in a very rural area. Students regularly enjoy hiking in the forests above the campus. Kenya is a beautiful and diverse country stretching from the white sand beaches of the Indian Ocean to the snow-capped peak of Mt. Kenya to the shores of Lake Victoria, a source of the Nile River. In the north are barren desert areas and the south is the scene of one of the largest annual animal migrations in the world – the great wildebeest migration.
Kenya is also an entry point into the rest of eastern Africa. Kenya has enjoyed long periods of peace and stability that have encouraged organizations to establish home bases in Nairobi while serving in the less stable neighboring countries such as Sudan and Somalia. Having nearby Nairobi as a major international hub allows easy access for students coming to school at RVA.
