Flu Update

Dear Praying Friends,

THANKS SO MUCH for praying daily for our students and staff over the last two weeks. The virus going around has tapered off, with only 31 students on the sick list today (numbers were MUCH higher last week). Micah was home sick all last week, but is back to school again. Please continue to pray for the health of our staff and students. Many are truly exhausted and we still have 2 weeks until our mid-term break. Below is an official statement from the school regarding Donna, who was so sick with malaria. Her parents were able to be with her all of last week, after traveling 27 hours from their African home. We are very grateful for how God has answered our prayers and worked in her life.

“Thanks so much for joining us in prayer for Donna. God has graciously responded to our prayers. On Wednesday morning Donna woke up from her malaria induced coma. On Thursday she was moved from ICU to the private ward. Friday evening she was released from the hospital to be with her parents in a home on Kijabe station. On Monday she attended school for the first two periods of the day. Remarkable that in less that a week she went from being in a coma to being in class! She is still struggling to regain her full strength, but she is recovering much faster than many of us expected. Rejoice with us in God’s merciful answer to prayer for all of us.”

Rachel’s sophomore class is busy with Valentine’s sales. This week they are selling and next week, they’ll be delivering baked goods, helium balloons, roses, singing Valentine’s, and gift baskets. The kids are working very hard and are excited about the money they are raising for their class. Hannah was given the opportunity to play the piano during the offertory in church on Sunday. She did a beautiful job and was very brave to play in front of 600 people! She has recently tried-out for a speaking part in this year’s 5th/6th grade musical and is anxiously waiting to hear if she gets a part. Micah is happy to be healthy again and has been out playing non-stop since yesterday. Today, he hit a home-run during his tennis baseball game and made a triple-play when in the outfield!

Brian has been juggling the organization of the Valentine’s sale, teaching 5 classes, and helping sick kids catch-up on missed work. It seems that we have students in our house every night working on Valentine’s things, getting extra help in classes or making-up tests! Please pray for Missy as she will be changing jobs in the next few weeks. She has been asked to take-over the job of Admissions Director for RVA. This week, she is training someone to continue working with her ELLs at the elementary school and next week, will begin training for her new job.

We sure appreciate your prayers as we continue on through this busy term!

Brian, Missy, Rachel, Hannah and Micah
