The Final Countdown!

Hard as it is to believe, the end is near. In this last 6 weeks, we’ve had Senior Safari, Band Tour, Choir Tour, our final Class Party, Hannah’s 8th grade celebration dinner, Micah’s 6th grade safari, Baptism Sunday, a graduation BBQ, our staff farewell tea, Senior Sunday, countless dinners with students, music concerts, Alumni Weekend, awards ceremonies, final exams, and Micah’s 6th grade celebration. Later this week will be Senior Night and Graduation Day on the 13th. Our house is looking less and less like our home as many boxes of things have been packed away into storage and piles are everywhere. We have laughed and cried, and have begun the difficult process of saying goodbye.

We covet your prayers as we move forward through this very exciting, yet difficult week. By Saturday night, close to 500 students and staff will have left our school campus preparing to fly all over the globe. During the next few weeks, the annual “Kijabe shuffle” will take place as families who remain shift houses and prepare to welcome new staff who will begin to arrive in early August. There will be many goodbyes, as a large number of staff will be leaving.

We’d appreciate your prayers for:

1. Rachel and the Class of 2013 – that their Graduation Day would truly be a time of celebration for all God has done in their lives thus far. Rachel has finished strong and is embracing what lies ahead as she prepares for her college adventure.

2. Hannah and Micah – that their final days with close friends would be sweet. They are excited to return to see family (especially a brand new baby cousin) and eat their favorite American foods, but are torn in having so many goodbyes before those hellos on the other side.

3. Micah – that he would have a wonderful week at Camp Bluesky (July 14-20) with two of his best buddies. This is his first time to go to camp!

4. Camping – that our final camping trip to Masai Mara (July 15-17) with two other families will be safe and memorable. This is the last thing on Rachel’s “bucket list” before leaving Kenya.

5. Grace in Goodbyes – that we would cherish our last times with special friends. This is truly the most difficult part of our lives as missionaries.

6. A Car in the US – that we would be able to find a vehicle to use for a few weeks until we are able to purchase one. We are grateful to have house and that many things are within walking distance.

We will be leaving Kenya on Sunday, July 21st and heading to Europe for a week with friends in Germany, Switzerland and France before arriving in PA on Sunday evening, July 28th. THANK YOU for praying for special family times as we leave Kenya and prepare to jump into a completely different life in the year ahead. We are thankful that God goes before us in all things!!!

Rejoicing in HIS goodness,

Brian, Missy, Rachel, Hannah and Micah
