Six weeks ago, we welcomed 81 new students to RVA for the start of a new school year! It has been a busy few weeks, but we are beginning to feel settled into a routine. In addition to adjusting to new classes and teachers, Hannah is involved with leading worship and mentoring girls during Junior High Rock on Sunday nights, participating in a Sunday school outreach with local street kids, and has submitted eight college applications. PRAY that she would see God clearly directing her steps through this process. Micah joined Jazz Band this term and is the starting goalie for the JV football (soccer) team. He is also a student leader for the sophomore class. PRAY that he would learn to manage his time well and stay organized. Rachel has started her final year at Millersville University and is researching and applying to graduate school programs in addition to her classes and full-time job as RA to 48 residents. PRAY that she would rely on God’s strength daily and that she would sense His leading as she anticipates graduation in May 2017.
Brian continues to wear many hats, but his favorite by far is teaching AP Calculus. This year is even more fun with Hannah in his class! With the beginning of this school year behind us, Missy is now getting to know a whole new set of families working all over Africa with kids on our waiting list for Aug 2017. We continue to invest in Micah’s class – working with their student leadership team to plan and implement weekend activities. This term, we will help the class begin planning for their first major fund-raising event: Valentine’s Sales! PRAY for strength and wisdom in our jobs and responsibilities and for opportunities to build relationships among students.

This term our Sunday morning sermons are focused on the Book of Colossians with the theme: Jesus is Enough. We’re thankful to be reminded of this truth each week as we begin a new school year, not exactly sure of what it will hold; but absolutely confident that Jesus is Enough. He will carry us through the joys and challenges that will come during this new school year.
Special Prayer Request: Our annual Spiritual Emphasis Week will be held October 12-16 with worship, teaching sessions, and times of prayer. PRAY that our students and staff would be sensitive and ready to hear what God has to teach us.
