Dear friends,
Believe it or not, we have crossed the half-way point of our year-long home assignment having been back in Millersville for six months now. This week has been a little rough, as we learned from the groundhog that an early Spring is predicted. We’d love to see some significant snow this winter! 😊
We have really enjoyed our time sharing with churches and have been blessed and encouraged by visits with friends and supporters. We are deeply thankful for the prayers of many as we have sought the Lord for clear direction in this new “empty nest” season. Though there are still questions to be answered, we do believe that He is asking us to return to the ministry we love at RVA and will begin moving in that direction confident that He will open and close doors along the way. Our commitment going forward is to take one year at a time with more frequent and shorter home assignments. We will continue to trust the Lord to provide for short yearly trips to connect with our kids and extended family.
Here are a few specific ways you can be praying for our family:
A home for our kids. We believe it is time for us to buy a house to give our kids a home-base before we head back to Kenya in August. We will be looking in the Lancaster County area as it will allow Rachel a reasonable commute to both her job and home church. This house will give our kids a place to go during school breaks, give all five of us a place to store our belongings in one location, and give us a permanent address for our mail. We’d love to hear from you with any connections you may have to a house that may be available.
Rachel has opened our eyes to the complex job she has as a hospital social worker with heart transplant patients. She needs real wisdom as she works closely with families, physicians, and outside agencies in coordinating care for patients. PRAY for Rachel as she helps families make the best decisions possible for their loved ones.
Hannah enjoyed hiking and plenty of beach time during her trip to Hawaii in January! Now it’s back to the reality of a new semester of classes as she looks forward to finishing her junior year of college in early May. PRAY for Hannah as she is seeking to find a summer internship that fits well within her major and gives her an opportunity to explore career options.
Micah talked for days about the challenging messages shared by speakers at the Passion 2020 conference and was SO BLESSED to connect with several RVA friends in a stadium of more than 65,000 college students! He very much enjoyed studying Islam during J-term. PRAY for Micah as he begins looking for a good summer job in the Lancaster area.
There are many other details that need to fall into place before we can return to Kenya later this year. As we take this step of faith, we will hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful! (Hebrews 10:23)
Be sure to see our schedule for the next few weeks below. We would appreciate your prayers for safe travels and good visits.
Always thankful for your prayers, love, and encouragement,
Brian & Missy
